Comic-Con 08

Oh my what a week this has been.. My first ComicCon and it was amazing.. I’m used to going to CES every year but THIS was simply awesome. Over 125k people of all kinds. I went to a few panel discussions. Most notably the Family Guy and Robot Chicken panels, also visitied the Street Fighter, Knight Rider, Battlestar Galactica, just to name a few.. There was so much going on I didn’t get to go to half of the seminars I wanted to.

This was the first time I was able to see both Seth Green and Seth McFairlane in the same place at the same time. When these guys get together expect nothing but hilarity. Here’s the scoop on what to expect from Family Guy in the next season. Are you ready for this??? They have created a spin-off to Family Guy. Now I bet your thinking what would be a good spin-off to the Family Guy?? Well its called “The Cleveland Show” YES that’s right.. Cleveland has his own show now. He moved out of Quohaug and back to his hometown to get married and live with his high school sweetheart. They start a family and well that’s where it gets interesting. They are billing it as a black Brady Bunch of sorts so that should be nothing but funny. They showed a clip of the show along with the intro and let me tell you there are no words to explain how fresh it is. I do have audio of the entire session so once I get it encoded to mp3 I will post it somewhere.

What about the video games? Well Look forward to Soul Caliber IV, Fracture, Batman vs. Superman, Marvel vs. DC. I sat in on a panel and heard the creator of Street Fighter talk about this new version. I must say its quite kool and playing it brought back the feel of back in the day of the original Street Fighter 2. They have taken it back more to the original gameplay with 2D screenplay instead of 3D. The graphics are more detailed and very crisp. (Video of actual gameplay coming soon)

The most requested and sought after item of this year was ANYTHING Heath Ledger as the Joker on Batman. Booth after booth things were sold out. I even read one sign that said “Joker items are sold out FOREVER”. So I guess its pretty serious. Start lookin on eBay kids for those Joker toys you like.

Do you like Star Wars? Well keep a close eye out for The Clone Wars. That series and movie looks amazing. The Star Wars Fan Movie awards were also held there. I wasn’t able to stay for the winner but they showed all the Star Wars parodies made by fans on the big screen surrounding the booth. The winner was chosen by George Lucas himself where he also presented the winner with the award in person.
