Illiterate guy loses child to Madonna in adoption suit.

The boy's father says he is now having regrets about the adoption
Pop star Madonna is to be interviewed by Oprah Winfrey about her planned adoption of a one-year-old from Malawi.

She will appear on the US television chat show on Wednesday following claims by baby David's father that he never meant to give away his son for good.

It would be the first time that the singer had given her side of the story, a spokeswoman for the programme said.

David was flown to Britain to live with Madonna after a temporary custody order was granted by a Malawian judge.

It is unclear if she plans to take David with her to the US for the appearance, which was scheduled originally to publicise Madonna's latest children's book.

The proceeds from the publication are being donated to the singer's Raising Malawi charity for orphans.

Legal bid

Madonna's plan to adopt David has gained headlines around the world, with a human rights group beginning a legal challenge, claiming that foreign adoptive parents should have lived in Malawi for a year and a half.

David's father, peasant farmer Yohane Banda, had previously said the "so-called human rights groups should leave my baby alone".

But on Sunday, Mr Banda, who is illiterate, said he had no idea what the High Court adoption papers he signed had meant and he was "just realising" what the procedure entailed.

"I was never told that adoption means that David will no longer be my son," he told the AP news agency.

"If I was told this, I would not have allowed the adoption.

"I want more clarification on the adoption. I would prefer that David goes back to the orphanage where I can see him any time I want, rather than send him away for good."

Mr Banda, 32, said he thought Madonna would just "educate and take care of our son".

But he still thanked the star for rescuing David "from poverty and disease".

How do you feel sorry for someone like that?? Just dumb!
